Shared Space Residency

The residency offers free studio space to be shared collectively. In exchange, we would like artists to support us to increase public access to the Community Studio through a structured ‘open doors’ model. Artists are also invited to self-initiate peer learning and artist-led activity for Tannery studio holders and wider publics, to help cultivate a creative community at Drawing Room.

We are seeking five artists who would particularly benefit from having free studio provision and being part of an active artistic community. Individual artists, duos and collectives are welcome to apply.

Timeline

• Deadline to apply is 17th of May.
• Selected artists will be invited for interviews by the 22nd of May.
• Interviews will take place in the Community Studio between 26th – 28th of May.
• Artists moving into the studio in Oval on the 1st of June.
• Residency runs from June to November 2026

• How does drawing exist within your practice.
• How would this opportunity help you develop your practice?
• Why would a free studio be particularly beneficial to you in this moment in time?
• How would you approach using the residency, Drawing Room’s Exhibition, Library and Community Studio as an opportunity for peer learning?
• What is your interest in supporting Drawing Room’s open access model and what relevant skills and experience do you have?
• What is your approach to sharing space and working alongside others? • What would be your studio working pattern and how much time per week would you spend on site?
• Do you have any access requirements or anything else we should be aware of?
